Columbus Photographer | Maternity Photography - Rolling with Mother Nature

When Morgan emailed me to book her maternity session, I was so excited! I knew we were going to go to Inniswood Metropark and be surrounded by flowers and nature for the perfect maternity look. Once the day came for the session, mother nature was not on our side and it was cold and windy.. I was disappointed for a moment but then decided to bring mother nature to my studio (along with Morgan and her daughter!) and make a flower crown! 

I had experience making flower arrangements from taking a workshop and doing my wedding flower arrangements at the Flowerman in Columbus! Boy was I glad to have those skills at hand that day.. my creative side plus flower taping and wiring skills helped me to whip up a rose flower crown in about 30 minutes! Just in time for Morgan's session!

Morgan and her daughter were both fantastic to work with! Morgan told me her daughter isn't really a "flowers-in-her-hair" type girl.. She would rather be wearing her Converse Chucks ;) but she really rocked the floral crown!

She looked so adorable and is going to be an awesome big sister!

Morgan's gallery turned out timeless and beautiful. Pregnancy is such an amazing moment in your life.. sometimes it feels like forever when you are carrying that baby, but someday, you just might miss your baby bump! Maternity portraits are the perfect way to capture this special time..

The glow is real. Morgan was stunning. I am so happy I was able to capture these moments for her and her family!

Columbus Photographer | Smash Cake - Luke turns 1!

Turning 1 is a big deal... Ok it's HUGE! You graduate to "toddler" status, get a delicious cake (which you get to smash!), party, and presents! What more could a kid ask for?! 

For parents, turning one means their baby isn't a little baby anymore.. They are growing up! 

The first year is so awesome and challenging.. BUT even more amazing and full of love than you could have ever imagined! It goes by at the speed of light.. Everyone warns you it does.. And it really does.

This tiny little human that you once swaddled and could carry around like a football (safely lol) is now a toddling, babbling, super active mini you! And if this is your first child, you have survived  your first year of parenthood and should pat yourself on the back! 

Smash cake sessions are all about celebrating that first year.. 

Among the many "firsts" that happen during a baby's first 12 months, capturing that FIRST dive into the birthday cake is one of my favorite moments to capture.

I thoroughly enjoyed photographing adorable little Luke as he curiously poked the cake..

Then after a little encouragement, we were rolling!

When your mom is a photographer...

When your mom (or dad) is a photographer, it is inevitable that you will be her guinea pig.. because every photographer needs a good model to practice on, right?!

As a photographer specializing in babies, I am always trying to better my images and camera skills.. therefore, my son has been subject to this "modeling" career. 

Let's just say that he is not always a fan of testing mom's new studio lighting.. or cute props.. or camera techniques (you get the idea).

Oh, you know, not looking at mom.. ever. :)

Despite him not loving every minute in front of the camera, we do sometimes get it right and that makes it all worth it.. and then Bodhi gets extra cuddles-ha!

I could not have asked for a better model to help me along in my journey in the photography world. I know someday we will be thankful for all of these "guinea pig" sessions..
