I had the privilege of taking some beautiful pictures for this soon-to-be-married couple! We had beautiful light and weather just an hour before sunset on Ohio State Campus. The Oval and Mirror Lake scenery was perfect for these two alumni.

What can I say? Great family, beautiful little girls, warm morning sunlight.. everything was awesome for this family's session at Inniswood last weekend.
These sisters were so adorable together..matching dresses and all! And I just adored their little cowboy boots! I will say that it is not always easy getting children to pose or look at the camera, but I have learned that I get the best photographs when I let them be themselves and follow their lead.
One of the things that I loved about this session was how beautiful the emotions were that came through.. obviously LOVE being the most obvious one. There was also lots of affection, trust, delight, and joy.
I am so happy I was able to document a few memories for this beautiful family. Enjoy.
As today is the last day of summer, I find myself extra nostalgic and emotional.. seeing some yellow and red leaves sprinkled here and there makes me a tiny bit sad. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE fall.. but the fact that summer is over is bittersweet. It was our first summer with our son.. and my first summer home with him. We had our awesome days and our not-so-awesome days, but all in all, it was full of beautiful memories.
This past weekend, we decided to go on a family walk at Inniswood Botanical Gardens. I brought my camera along "just in case" as I usually do and I guess you could say that our "walk" turned into a full on photo shoot.. oops :)
The early morning light was too beautiful to NOT take pictures of my husband and my son. Thankfully, my husband played along and posed without moaning and groaning (let's face it.. most guys do not like their picture taken..) And our little guy even looked at the camera! He is notorious for not looking at me at all costs when I have a camera.. so I was pleasantly surprised!
The connection Carmichael and Bodhi have really comes through in these pictures.. they love to be goofy and silly together. Bodhi is more of a momma's boy but he sure does light up with excitement when his dad comes home from work! And when Bodhi was a baby, I could NEVER get him to laugh or giggle.. it was always Carmichael. Their relationship is so special and I love watching them interact.
During our walk, we went to a place at the park called Granny's House. It is an adorable space for kids to play in and Bodhi loved the murals on the walls.
I hope everyone had an AMAZING summer.. I am looking forward to fall and the holiday season!
The newborn days.. a sweet, dare I say, hectic, whirlwind of diapers, feedings, laundry, bottle washing and more diapers.. oh and sleep deprivation! But when that baby snuggles on your chest and falls asleep, ALL is right in the world.. and the hard work and exhaustion is more than worth it. These first few weeks are a huge adjustment period for most parents as they navigate the waters of taking care of their newest addition.
I was so honored that this family welcomed me into their home to document a little piece of these first few weeks.. Lifestyle newborn sessions are a new thing for me and I absolutely love everything about them! There is something very special about capturing a family in their natural setting. The pictures hold that much more value because of the past, present, and future memories that also take place in the backgrounds of these images.
Looking at the pictures and putting their gallery together this week was so exciting. I may have put my hands on my cheeks a few times with my jaw dropped because I just could not handle all the cuteness and emotions going on in the pictures!
